Ethiopian Troops Detain Army Commander and Tribal Chief in Gedo Region

Gedo, (insidesomalia.org)-The Ethiopian forces in Gedo region have arrested the Somali government army commander of Luq locality and popular chieftain in the region on Monday night - residents said.

The chieftain that is to say Bilow Hassanow Heidar is the chieftain of one of Somali clans in Gedo region was charged of making violent campaigns against the newly established administration of Luq neighborhood after his clan has turned down to recognize the new administration as reliable sources confirmed Shabelle.

Also the chieftain’s co-tribe militias’ have seized more than 20 trucks for the third day in Bulo-Bashir village 25km from Luq district.

Some rumor also said that the armed militias have ordered the owners of the vehicles they have seized to reimburse private tariff of the region.

Also the Ethiopian troops have taken into custody the commanding officer of Luq police forces Siyad Abdi Karin.

It’s so far unknown the motivation behind the arrest of the police officer.

No comment could be available from the government officials regarding on this matter.
